However, by the very nature of the small press, quantities on some titles are limited. If I run out of something you ordered, I'll "backorder" the item on your invoice and send it to you as soon as I'm re-supplied. If a title goes out of print, I'll issue you a credit memo on your invoice. Our database keeps a running tab of these credits on your account, so you can deduct the credit from your next order. The Christ Conspiracy; the greatest story ever sold.
Acharya S.
(June,1999) In this highly controversial and explosive book, archaeologist, historian, mythologist and linguist Acharya S. marshals an enormous amount of startling evidence to demonstrate that Christianity and the story of Jesus Christ were created by members of various secret societies, mystery schools and religions in order to unify the Roman Empire under one state religion. In developing such a fabrication, this multinational cabal drew upon a multitude of myths and rituals that existed long before the Christian era, and reworked them for centuries into the religion passed down to us today. Contrary to popular belief, there was no single man who was at the genesis of Christianity; Jesus was many characters rolled into one. These characters personified the ubiquitous solar myth, and their exploits were well known, as reflected by such popular deities as Mithras, Heracles/Hercules, Dionysos and many others throughout the Roman Empire and beyond. The story of Jesus as portrayed in the Gospels is revealed to be nearly identical in detail to that of the earlier savior-gods Krishna and Horus, who for millennia preceding Christianity held great favor with the people. The Christ Conspiracy shows the Jesus character as neither unique nor original, not "divine revelation."Christianity re-interprets the same extremely ancient body of knowledge that revolved around the celestial bodies and natural forces. The result of this myth making has been "The Greatest Story Ever Sold." 256 pages, paper

Biohazard: The chilling true story of the largest covert biological weapons program in the world - by the man who ran it
Ken Alibek with Stephen Handelman
(1999) Hand-picked as a young Kazakh medical officer in the Red Army, Alibek ran the Soviet Union's biowarfare program. Absolutely compelling reading; and compulsory reading for Western virologists, many of whom have turned a blind eye to possible leakage from these bioweapon facilities. Alibek says, "I have lost all sense of smell and have the broadest range of allergies of anyone I know. I can't eat butter, cheese eggs, mayonnaise, sausages, chocolate, or candy. I swallow two or three pills of anti-allergy medicine a day - more on bad days, when my sinuses start to drain. I rub ointment over my face, neck and hands to give my skin the natural lubricants it has lost. The countless vaccinations I received against anthrax, plague, and tularemia weakened my resistance to disease and probably shortened my life." 319 pages, cloth

Timber Wars
Judi Bari
(1994) Judi Bari, the Northern California environmental activist with Earth First!, was car-bombed in Oakland California in 1990, during the protests against corporate clear-cutting. This is a collection of her writings from that time, published in papers ranging from the Anderson Valley Advertiser to The New York Times. (Judi's sister, Gina Kolata, was the science editor for The Times until she was caught plagiarizing someone else's writing.) Judi Bari was a formidable hell-raiser with a great sense of humor; these writings provide you with and up-close and personal record of the Earth First! direct actions in the past decade. The bombing case, by the way, remains unsolved. Bari makes an argument that the bombing was done in the context of a FBI Cointelpro operation to disrupt the massive protests of Redwood Summer. There's a lot of evidence that the FBI didn't particularly care who bombed Judi Bari. She and others have speculated about a number of suspects, certainly she had plenty of haters in the local loony rightwing parts of the county of Mendocino. Flatland Magazine #16 contains an exhaustive investigation of the bombing. Timber Wars is Judi Bari's side of the story, a book that stands as a poignant testimony after Bari's death from cancer at an all-too-young age in 1997. 342 pages, paperback
item code: TIWA $14.95
Who Bombed Judi Bari?
Judi Bari
(1997) Spoken word and music, on this CD by Earth First!er Judi Bari, who died in 1997. Clips of Bari's speeches on corporate pillage of the forests. Many of these recordings discuss the FBI's bungled investigation of the car-bombing of 1990 that injured Judi Bari and Darryl Cherney. An excellent audio companion to Bari's book, Timber Wars. audio CD

They Knew Too Much About Flying Saucers
Gray Barker
(1956; new intro by John Keel 1997) Illuminet Press has reissued this classic book, the first to focus on the popular "Men in Black" theme, in which UFO witnesses are visited by men in dark suits, driving "late-model sedans" (usually dark blue Lincolns or Cadillacs), who menace the witnesses on behalf of some unnamed agency. Gray Barker was a good writer with a sardonic Southern wit: "I'm glad I wasn't around when one of these hallucinations came down practically in my back yard... This particular hallucination scared seven of my neighbors almost to death. They had to clean one of them like a baby." 256 pages, paper

SPK: Krankheit im Recht
Trevor Blake
(1995) SPK, or Socialist Patients Collective, began as a mental-patients support group in the ferment of the sixties in Germany. Founded by Wolfgang Huber at the University of Heidelberg, SPK's ideology was/is something of a mix of Karl Marx, Wilhelm Reich and Hegel. "Dr. Huber realized that sickness, both physical and mental, was actually an appropriate response to a diseased, insane world of capitalism, pollution, junk food, repressive sexual morality, war, nuclear explosions, etc. Instead of trying to cure the sickness of the individual (or to reform therapy), efforts should be made to address the sickness of the world, and that it is the sick patient who signalizes the most clear vision of how this is to be done. Dr. Huber suggested sickness be turned into a weapon." Thus SPK began allying itself with terrorist and armed factions like the RAF in Germany, and after a brief period of trying to wrest the right to self-proscribe drugs, including LSD, from the University mental hospital, a SPK commando unit blew themselves, and an entire floor of a Swedish embassy, to smithereens with dynamite in a hostage-taking action. Neither the RAF, Action Directe, nor SPK has ever completely died out. In the eighties, a thrash punk band calling itself "SPK" emerged from Germany and toured the US with the Dead Kennedys. (I saw the show in San Francisco. I was a big DKs fan). Anyway, there is some material on the band as well. See also Tom Vague's "Televisionaries" book on the RAF and Huber's book, "Turn Illness Into a Weapon". 160 pages, paper

Guy Debord; Revolutionary
Len Bracken
RARE. (1997) An engaging biography of a unique man who shot himself in the heart in 1994. Reaching back into the ferment of Paris, France in the mid-fifties, Bracken traces the life of Debord, filmmaker, author of "The Society of the Spectacle," founding member of the Situationist International, and who played a hand in the occupation of the Sorbonne in 1968. The book includes Debord's previously untranslated board game, "The Game of War." Here is a sample of Debord's prose: "So it is that thousands of plots in favor of the established order tangle and clash almost everywhere, as the overlap of secret networks and secret issues or activities grows ever more dense along with their rapid integration into every sector of economics, politics and culture. In all areas of social life the degree of intermingling in surveillance, disinformation and security activities gets greater and greater. The general plot having thickened so much that it's almost out in the open that each part of it now interferes with, or worries, the others. All these professional conspirators are spying on each other without really knowing why; they're colliding by chance and yet not identifying each other with any certainty. Who is observing whom? On whose behalf, apparently? And actually? The real influences remain hidden, and the ultimate aims can only be seen with great difficulty and almost never understood. So that while no one can say he is not being tricked or manipulated, it's only in rare instances that the manipulator himself can know if he is a winner." 267 pages, perfect bound

The Arch Conspirator; Essays and Actions
Len Bracken
Veteran conspiracy author Len Bracken's witty essays and articles lead us down the dark corridors of conspiracy, politics, murder and mayhem. In 12 chapters Bracken takes us through a maze of interwoven tales from the Russian Conspiracy (and a few "extra notes" on conspiracies) to his interview with Costa Rican novelist Joaquin Gutierrez and his Psychogeographic Map into the Third Millennium. Other chapters in the book are A General Theory of Civil War; A False Report Exposes the Dirty Truth About South African Intelligence Services; The New-Catiline Conspiracy for the Cancellation of Debt; Anti-Labor Day; 1997 with selected Aphorisms Against Work; Solar Economics; and more. Bracken's work has appeared in such pop-conspiracy publications as Paranoia, Steamshovel Press and the Village Voice. Len Bracken lives in Arlington, Virginia and haunts the back alleys of Washington D.C., keeping an eye on the predators who run our country. With a gun to his head, he cranks out his rants for fringe publications and is the editor of Extraphile, described by New Yorker Magazine as "fusion conspiracy theory." 256 pages, paper

The Letters of Centinel; Attacks on the US Constitution (1787-1788)
Samuel Bryan (Warren Hope, ed.)
(1998) This beautifully-written set of letters from a Philadelphia patriot, Samuel Bryan, remind us exactly what's been lost to our public dialogue since the formation of the United States. A part of our forgotten history, these letters, and other voices like Bryan's, contributed to the passage of the Bill of Rights, since the articles of the Constitution were originally proposed without them. Bryan describes a conspiracy of "well-born" secret monarchists like Alexander Hamilton and James Madison, who wrote the Federalist Papers in response to the letters of Centinel (Samuel Bryan's non-de-plume). Centinel's arguments against a strong central government, and for the existing, loose confederation of States, ring truer than ever now that we confronted with the ever-growing National Security State. "... of all possible evils, that of despotism is the worst and the most to be dreaded." As editor Warren Hope notes in his succinct introduction, "The Letters of Centinel are part of a submerged tradition of American political thought that is more desperately needed now that the rulers of our televisionary Republic have become accustomed to playing imperial games than it was in the days when imperial dreams of America's first rulers were new." 144 pages, trade paperback

The Field Guide to Bigfoot, Yeti and Other Mystery Primates Worldwide
Loren Coleman, Patrick Huyghe, Harry Trumbore (Illustrator)
(April 1999) The author, Loren Coleman writes of this book: There is more that is hidden behind the generic name "Bigfoot" than meets the eye. This fully-illustrated, referenced Field Guide surveys a revolutionary new classification system that brings some insightful, zoological order to the chaos and ridicule that has be fallen the field for years. Anyone, whether a marginally interested skeptic, a devoted follower of "Bigfoot" research, a fan of field-oriented nature studies, or a wanderer of the world's wild places will want to obtain The Field Guide to Bigfoot, Yeti, and Other Mystery Primates Worldwide, as it serves as a gateway to adventure and a vehicle for sharing some serious zoological insights. Explore the new frontiers of nature-neo-giants, hairy, upright creatures - the classic Sasquatch - spotted and filmed by two men in Six Rivers National Forest, California...true giants, like the nyalmo of the Himalayas, the cannibals of folklore, often fifteen feet tall, leave startling two foot long, four-toed tracks in the mud and snow...mer-beings, known as chupacabras, spiny-backed primates frequently blamed for the mutilation of sheep, goats, and other animals, sighted last year in Puerto Rico, the United States and Brazil...At a time when interest is running so high in what exactly is to be understood about the Patterson Bigfoot Film, finally a new comprehensive overview of the evidence (beyond the Film) is being published. Thousands of reports of a wide variety of mysterious primates have intrigued humans since the beginning of recorded history, yet these shy and reclusive beings have eluded the most diligent attempts to verify their existence. Here is the first-ever comprehensive study on an astonishing variety of puzzling ape like and human like animals that are still being seen today. This fully referenced volume includes range maps and typical footprints for each type of undiscovered creature sighted sightings - Detailed Illustrations - Newest findings in an exciting branch of cryptozoology - Likeliest locales and most common subtypes for sighting - Advice on what to do if a sighting occurs. What You Don't Know About the Constitution
Dr. John Coleman

It is this group, established by the Dick Act of 1903 which the government fears the most, and it is the reason why every effort is being made by the jackals of the press to 'outlaw' the unorganized militia is [sic] an unlawful entity; as black a lie as the controlled press could come up with." trade paperback

The Day After Roswell
Col. Philip J. Corso
(1997) With an introduction by Sen. Strom Thurmond. As Chief of the U.S. Army's Foreign Technology Division in 1961, Col. Corso reports that he inherited fragments of alien artifacts discovered at the crash site in Roswell, NM and distributed the items to defense industry technicians who then back-engineered the technology that led to integrated circuit chips, fiber optics, lasers, night-vision scopes, and Kevlar. Researchers into the Cold War National Security State have rushed to point out Corso's alliance with shady crypto-fascists like Gen. Charles Willoughby, the "Shickshinny" Knights of Malta, and Strom Thurmond's segregationist efforts in the 60s, but they cannot deny that Corso is who he says he is, and they have been mute on the subject of who a believable source within military intelligence might be. If in fact an alien spacecraft crashed at Roswell, only guys like Corso would have been privy to it, and Corso makes very clear how the military industrial complex runs the show, not the elected, unreliable political leadership. Corso, then, is one of the original Men in Black. Corso relates his story in a deadpan, war-of-the-worlds style, and this is a confounding book since no one can figure out why an octogenarian would cook up a tale such as this, is it is indeed untrue. Frustratingly skimpy on corroborating evidence, the book nevertheless has, for me, the ring of truth. 341 pages, hardback

Area 51; The Dreamland Chronicles
David Darlington
(1997) "The Legend of America's Most Secret Military Bases." A professional Western writer hikes out to the overlook at Nevada's Area 51 with "Desert Rat" Glenn Campbell. [Steamshovel Press readers will already be familiar with Glenn's writings on Ufology.] For those of us from the East Coast, it 's hard to imagine the vast tracts of land that have been gobbled up by the Federal Government out past the Mississippi. The recent squabbles around the Area 51 land-grab have focused public attention on this Cold War holdover. In this well-documented discussion of military projects at the "non existent" air base, Darlington brings a skeptical yet open-minded viewpoint, and adopts the "folklorist" attitude toward the UFO phenomena: even if UFOs aren't real, the culture around them is important. Like Campbell, the author keys in on government secrecy, fraud, and waste. Great documentation on the "Black Budget" of an estimated $30 billion in taxpayer money allocated to hush-hush, gee-whiz, useless weapons. A rare sensible UFO book. 281 pages, cloth

Saharasia: The 4000 BCE Origins of Child Abuse. Sex-repression, Warfare and Social Violence in the Deserts of the Old World
James DeMeo
(1998) DeMeo, founder of the Orgone Biophysical Research Laboratory, and author of THE ORGONE ACCUMULATOR HANDBOOK, is one of a small handful of researchers who have extended the work of the late Dr. Wilhelm Reich in significant ways. Reich, toward the end of his life, spoke of the "emotional desert" of modern humanity, based on his research into the desert development in the American southwest. While Reich felt there was a functional connection between desert development and the emotional landscape of human society, he did not have time to fully explore these ideas before he was imprisoned at Lewisburg Penitentiary in 1956. Less than 20 years after his death, DeMeo began correlating information from anthropological databases and mapping geographic trends among hundreds, if not thousands, of cultures around the world. What he found was a startling corroboration of Reich's conjectures about deserts and society: those cultures that rose out of the formation of the great deserts of the Sahara and Central Asia ("Saharasia") displayed a negative attitude toward sexuality, a rigid patriarchal caste structure, with women as chattel slaves and children routinely abused and tortured. However, there is much evidence that this was a relatively new social condition introduce about 4,000 years ago, when the previously lush landscape of Saharasia dried up. Meanwhile, more moist areas of the world helped maintain the older culture, without manifestations of organized social violence, heirarchies, and a healthy attitude toward sexuality. This massive, oversized book, lavishly illustrated and containing overwhelming documentation, including global maps, changing historical weather patterns and climate changes, proves not only the connection between climate and society, but delves deeply into basic questions. DeMeo asks: What are the causes of human violence and war? Why, if everyone talks about 'world peace' and 'loving thy neighbor', is there so much hatred and killing in the world? In an era of exaggerated sexuality, why is there so much sexual misery and so little love, and why is natural sex functioning so often cloaked and hidden? Why do so many political and religious leaders behave in such a hypocritical manner, and why are the most religious nations often the most bloody and violent? Are humans innately violent, burdened with "original sin" or "violent genes"? 454 pages, paperback.

MI6; inside the covert world of Her Majesty's Secret Intelligence Service
Stephen Dorril
(2000) Longtime flatlanders will recognize Dorril as a contributor to the ever-interesting Lobster magazine published in the UK. This massive book explores the postwar history of the British intelligence service, with a special emphasis on how the British worked with the Americans to prevent communist regimes from gaining a foothold in Europe. And all the dirty tricks that accompanied that effort. Lobster readers will already be familiar with the high level of research that Dorril puts into his work. The author dismisses the claims of a surviving Nazi apparatus independent of British-American intelligence efforts ("The Boys in Brazil" scenario) but instead focusses much attention on the support given to ultranationalist groups in Eastern Europe and elsewhere around the world, whereby the "West" tried to destabilize the Soviet regime. Another feature of the book is the efforts MI6, in cooperation with the CIA, took to influence the intellectual life of Europe by funding liberal, yet anti-communist, writers and scholars in Europe during the Cold War - you might still be surprised to learn about which celebrities of the "radical Sixties" cut their teeth in covert work for the CIA. Although I can criticize the perspective of the author for his limited field - the reality of the threat posed by the Soviet Union might explain some of the more risky and bizarre actions taken by the MI6 - Dorril's scholarship is unimpeachable and his citations are solid. In large part, the author has succeeded in deflecting the nearly obsessive attention given to the likes of Philby, MacLean, and Burgess, the famous mole-hunts, back to the exposure of the multifarious "special operations" that disrupted often legitimate democratic processes around the world. This will be a benchmark work on the history of the MI6 for many years to come. 907 pages, cloth.

J.S. Earman, Inspector General of the CIA
(1996) With an introduction by the former head of Cuban State Security. I guess they're still pissed off down in Cuba about what the CIA tried to pull during the cold war. This recently declassified document is a slightly redacted version of the CIA's internal report on its own attempts to kill Fidel. It turns out that the poison cigar was Sidney Gottleib's idea, he of MKULTRA fame. Would I make this up? The exploding seashell. Thallium salt shoe insoles to make the Beard fall off, thus raising questions about the virility of the revolutionary. The tainted wet suit. Spray cans filled with LSD. The hypodermic ballpoint pen. Bloodline of the Holy Grail; The Hidden Lineage of Jesus
Laurence Gardner
(1996) I didn't think I'd be interested in this one but I couldn't put it down. For those interested in books such as "The Passover Plot" this one takes the issue much deeper, examining the actual historical record of Jesus and affirming that he and his Essene brethren faked his death and that Jesus survived and bore a son with Mary Magdalene. She escaped to France and established a royal lineage - one to which many European royals (but not all) trace their ancestry. There aren't many books that can trace the entire sweep of a 2000 year history, and many themes familiar to Flatlanders will be found here: the Knights Templars, Masons, Rosicrucians, Cathars, the Black Madonna, and more. It's a heretical book in many ways, and Gardner's central theme is that the Church established by the misogynist St. Paul (The Roman Catholic Church) stands in direct opposition to the principles for which Jesus was prosecuted: tolerance for diverging practices and women in the priesthood. For me, this book resonates with Wilhelm Reich's "The Murder of Christ". 490 pages, cloth

(1996) Impressively researched, this book catalogs the "corporate police state" and its development over the decades. Topics include: sovereignty vs. federal control, the intelligence community out of control, the facade of "left-wing" and "right wing" organizations exposed in their covert collaboration, The Oklahoma City bombing, the role of militias throughout U.S. history, past martial law in the U.S., murder as a political weapon, human experimentation by radiologists and biologists, the failed corporate-fascist coup of the 1930s. Over 40 pages of notes, bibliography and index. The author, Gerudas, became alarmed with these trends as an alternative health practitioner. What separates this book from many on the NWO is the erudite quality and breadth of the literary and historical sources he cites - 833 footnotes, 885 quotes, 319 warnings, and 104 solutions. Is the Pope Catholic?
Hutton Gibson
(1978) Mel "Braveheart" Gibson's dad, Hutton, has a bone to pick with the Catholic Church, and its recent line of false Popes. (See listing for Hutton's other book, "The Enemy is Here!") In this book he focuses on Paul VI as the anti-pope who has softened the Church's intolerance of heretics. Heretics are everyone who has heard Catholic teachings but didn't sign on. They are all going to hell, the traditionalists say. Maybe not, said Paul VI. You're the Anti-Christ, says Gibson. "The object of our war is victory. It is no game to win or lose. Shirked wars are irretrievably lost. Limited wars end like Korea or Vietnam. Compromise equals treachery, which requires neither intent nor even consciousness on the part of the traitor. More often it grows out of 'normal' mistaken attitudes developed in the modernist climate fostered by subversives. Treachery, then, is not necessarily subjective, overt, or culpable; it remains treachery, nevertheless, in fact." Gibson doesn't like the changes he sees in the Church at all, especially its drift into "liberation theology" communism. Hutton Gibson, according to one report I've heard, took his union-guaranteed disability payment from New York to Australia, to keep his sons, including Mel, out of the Vietnam War. 181 pages, paperback

Above Top Secret; The World-Wide UFO Cover-up
Timothy Good
(1988) A long overdue addition to the listing, a classic study of the UFO cover-up. Based almost exclusively upon official government documents, the book at the very least proves that officialdom - both in the U.S. and overseas - has never come clean on this issue. Leaves two possibilities: one, that UFOs are real, or two, the hoax is being perpetrated at the highest levels of the intelligence community. An excellent resource on the entire history of the "modern UFO era" with many FOIA documents reproduced here for the first time. 592 pages, paperback

The Ark: Surviving the Flood of Disinformation
Dr. Theodore Hall
(1997) From Leading Edge Research, home of the Matrix Series. New 450 page work by Hall, author of "Avoiding Extinction." (This book is an update/revised edition of that earlier work and replaces it.) Contains three sections: The Way Out: creating a sane civilization by means of a paradigm shift; The What's What concept guidebook; and The Big One: paradigm shift practicum. "This book provides a comprehensive understanding of our cultural system and proposes ways to use elements in the existing system to modify our culture to allow the paradigm of a new culture to come in. Discusses the origin of biology and evolutionary theory in the work of French naturalist Jean Baptist Lamarck, 'the most important scientist of the 19th century,' and explains the repudiation of Lamarck and his theory, Transformism, as an expression of reactionary political bias. Transformism maintains that the environment is influential in biological transformation -- a fact of nature which materialist scientism avoids in its quest to maintain a paradigm involving the philosophical and sociological ideas of Darwin and Malthus, who maintained that 'a responsible elite' must take charge of the planet 'to put the brakes on the amoral, unprincipled population.' The Malthusian premise, which also encourages neglect of the population, population reduction mandates, and indirect killing, provides for the advent of behaviorism, mind control paradigms and other devolutionary political policies which suppress the development and evolution of the planet, while deliberately creating disorder in order to justify 'population control.' The book discusses the adoption of Malthusian principles by Darwin, the subsequent replacement of the idea of 'natural selection' by 'scientific selection' and eugenics policies, and the rise of NeoDarwinism and the preoccupation with genetics and geneticists, who see themselves as establishing the basis for a 'new theory of evolution' based on faulty assumption of the primacy of DNA, which supports a multi-billion dollar industry destined to function as a manipulative mechanism of global socialism. Avoiding Extinction then launches into a masterful treatise on the nature of cellular structure, particularly the cellular membrane and the work of Dr. Bruce Lipton, revealing that cells still operate (until they run out of spare parts) after the nucleus and genes are removed, but that cells go comatose when the frequency receptor proteins in the cellular membrane are removed, meaning that physiological primacy is in the cellular membrane, not in the genes." - Leading Edge Research. 450 pages

Hill is not a skeptic, not since he saw a UFO in the 1950s. Although the book doesn't require technical mastery to understand, it's clear that Hill bases his work on classical physics. The Road to the World's End
Sigurd Hoel
(1933; translated by Sverre Lyngstad 1996) Sigurd Hoel, a leading Norwegian writer, became close friends with Wilhelm Reich during the latter's exile in Oslo. Hoel was politically active in the socialist movement, serving as co-editor of the journal "Mot Dag" (New Day) which was associated with the German-Austrian group Neu Beginnen. Hoel was one of the few who spoke out against a multinational media campaign against Reich's work in Scandinavia. We can see why the two men found common ground, with this sensitive account told from a child's-eye view. "Though it may be enjoyed as a straightforward account of a farm boy's life in the early years of this century (but free of bucolic sentimentality), closer analysis reveals a complexity constructed out of Hoel's fascination with Freudian psychology," wrote reviewer David M. Walsten. "The novel focuses on Anders, an introspective, sensitive boy, from age three to mid-adolescence, and on his seemingly uneventful, quotidian activities. As he grows older, in a world populated by his parents, an assortment of domestic helpers and farm workers and children, we follow the growth of his perceptions. Pleasures are few but just right for a child: a secret hideaway in the brush, the aroma of Mother's cooking, a bug clambering in the grass... At the novel's end, Anders is leaving home for the first time, presumably to attend school in the city. Ernest Hemingway would have applauded the spare, terse account of Anders' farewell with his father. The narrative style of the entire work, in fact, exemplifies the dictum 'less is more.'" 351 pages, paperback

Jim Hogshire
(1997) New from Feral House, Hogshire's recent troubles with Bob Black and the Law have not succeeded in silencing this writer. A fascinating account of the hairy underbelly of the Tabs, which should be taken seriously. Drawn from Hogshire's own experience working for one of the prominent Tabloids, the book examines the history and development of sleaze, the uses to which tabs are put by the intelligence community, and more. A somewhat misleading title, this isn't a review of the sensationalist stories that have appeared over the years, but rather an insightful and sensible study of the Tabs' role in modern culture. 147 pages, paperback

Aric Z. Leavitt
(1998) From Adam Weishaupt to World War III, this blames just about everything that goes wrong on the ultra-secret "Illuminati" - and is essentially long book report on all the old chestnuts from Christian Patriot Association's book catalog. Cites William Carr's "Pawns in the Game" as well as Nesta Webster's "Secret Societies" and Eustice Mullins. If you've never seen Nesta Webster's color-coded "Chart of the World Revolution" - which links everybody from the Irish Republicans, the Bolsheviks, the Anarchists, and Robespierre into a vast web of conspiracy run by the Illuminati, well you need this book. 205 pages, bound xerox

Occult Ether Physics: Tesla's Hidden Space Propulsion System and the Conspiracy to Conceal It
William Lyne
(1998) The author of the book, "Space Aliens from the Pentagon," which argued for an terrestrial explanation for UFOs, expands on his theme that Tesla technology is now being used by the military to design aircraft that appear "extraterrestrial." Lyne puts Tesla's theories in laymen's terms, and while the title "Occult Ether Physics" might throw a few readers off, be advised that the author means, by "occult," that the "ether technology" has been hidden by global manipulators. 106 pages, paperback

Space Aliens from the Pentagon
William R. Lyne
(1993) Whatta title. Lyne claims inside info on man-made saucers, Nazi tech, CIA disinfo on free energy motors that power them. Plausible premise, but announcing how he saw Adolf & Eva Hitler in San Antone with LBJ in '67 may hurt his credibility. 226 pages, paper

The Cancer Cure That Worked! Fifty Years of Suppression
Barry Lynes
(1987) Fascinating expose of how the medical establishment crushed the work of the late Dr. Raymond Royal Rife, who invented a specialized microscope used in observing live tissues and treating illness. If you've never heard of the "Rife microscope," there's a reason. Lynes traces the story over the decades spanning from the early 30s to the 60s, and this book is a must for anyone wanting to understand how doctors get "mobbed up" with the pharmaceutical industry. 168 pages, paper

Angels Don't Play This HAARP; Advances in Tesla Technology
Jeane Manning & Dr. Nick Begich
(1995) HAARP (or High-frequency Active Auroral Research Project) is a research facility in Gakona, Alaska recently constructed by ARCO Power Technologies Inc., under contract for the Department of Defense. Based on Nikola Tesla's speculation about atmospheric and earth resonances, HAARP is part of the ongoing Star Wars research into particle beams, communications, and weather modification. "Patent # 4,686,605 claims it has the following uses: 'cause... total disruption of communications over a very large portion of the Earth... disrupting not only land-based communications, but also airborne communications and sea communications (both surface and subsurface)... missile or aircraft destruction, deflection or confusion... weather modification...by altering solar absorption... ozone, nitrogen etc. concentrations would be artificially increased...'" This readable and straightforward account covers the trail from Tesla to Star Wars, atomic bombs detonated in the Van Allen Belt, high-atmospheric physics, global warming, ARCO's (Tesla's) Patents, non-lethal weaponry, psychocivilized society & the CIA, wireless mind control, engineers directing high-energy beams at the ionosphere... system was operational as of September 11, 1995 and was tested on that date, but no news so far about these tests. Incidentally, this book is so good & convincing that the military has already posted a "HAARP Homepage" on the web, mentioning Begich by name, assassinating his character, and replying as best it can to the charges brought up in the book. 233 pages, paper

The Coming Energy Revolution; The Search For Free Energy
Jeane Manning
(1996) Manning, co-author of "Angels Don't Play This HAARP," turns in an enthusiastic survey of the entire gamut of free-energy machines, old and new. I'm surprised this hasn't been done before, and it's handy to have it all compiled in a single resource like this. Good list of organizations and inventors, too. Is this an elusive search for the philosopher's stone, or can I hook one of these gizmos up to my truck? 230 pages, paper

Project Mindshift: the re-education of the American public concerning Extraterrestrial life 1947-present
Michael Mannion
(1998) A good summing-up of what has become known as the "UFO phenomena" in popular culture, film, and news media, contrasted against the backdrop of the latest developments and evidence. Mannion's thesis, that the government has partly shaped the public imagery and dialogue about UFO's and aliens through disinformation and leakage of half-true revelations. Mannion notes that the public perception of UFOs has changed drastically over the course of the modern era since 1947. He examines the evidence which is conclusive to him, enough so that he asks the reader to accept the notion that alien visitation is a long-term reality. From there, he discusses all variants of the question, "What does it all mean?" There's a good chapter on Wilhelm Reich's observation of UFOs, and a knowledgeable presentation of his ideas about orgone energy, antigravity, and space propulsion. The author interviewed a wide range of important researchers such as Jacques Vallee and Michael Lindemann, getting their opinions on big-picture topics. Well wriiten, easily conveying a wealth of information, this book provides a good outline and introduction to the best UFO research today. 297 pages, cloth

Project L.U.C.I.D.; The Beast 666 Universal Human Control System
Texe Marrs
(1996) Texe, a fundamentalist minister from Texas, makes Pat Robertson sound like a secular humanist. That being said, non-believers will still get a lot of information about the coming biometric microchip revolution. I'm not sure why it's just been the fundies who are screaming about "The Mark of the Beast" - injectable microchips, biometric "smart cards" and bar-coded babies - maybe because most folks just snicker when you mention "injectable microchips" and think you're making it up. This is not a product of Texe's imagination, it's all too real. Why, just last year I caught a salmon that had been "tagged" with a microchip embedded in its head. I didn't know it until I pulled into the dock, and the fish-count guy from Fish and Game got all excited. "This is the first one I've seen." He cleaned my fish for me, decapitated it, and sent the salmon's head - microchip and all - off to Sacramento for entry into the big biometric database in the sky. I got a little postcard I could send in to know everything about Mr. Fishy's life history, Ma and Pa, dining habits, the works. I felt warm all over. Half expected the clean-team from "Repo Man," with full-coverage white toxic suits, to show up and sweep my boat for unusual tracings. Weird: they decapitated my fishy and sent the head to the State Capitol; am I next? "Sorry, Mrs. Martin, but we'll be needing Jimbo's head. Says so right here in the Regs." (That's okay, I won't be needing it - it's hardly been used, anyway.) 224 pages, paperback

Rule by Secrecy; the hidden story that connects the Trilateral Commission, the Freemasons, and the Great Pyramids
Jim Marrs
(2000) Author "Crossfire" (on the JFK Assassination) and "Alien Agenda," Jim Marrs goes for a popular hat-trick in this tome on the occult trappings of the globalist Illuminati and modern secret societies. It's an absolutely exhaustive summation of the information contained in classic conspiracy canon as found at Flatland Books and elsewhere. My personal take on all this? When an ancient secret society and a modern one are found to both have secret handshakes, it means that form follows function, not that the two secret societies are interrelated. Secrecy is a corrosive social force, one we all participate to one degree or another - perhaps even up to 33 degrees and beyond.

Flatland Magazine #14
Jim Martin, ed.
(1997) I scored something of a coup this time with a in-depth, face-to-face interview with Jacques Vallee, astrophysicist and prominent author on the UFO phenomena. We discussed his books, especially his fascinating memoir "Forbidden Science,"and the career of his associate, Dr. James E. McDonald, who was one of the first mainstream scientific authorities to challenge the bogus official explanations of UFO sightings such as swamp gas and plasma lighting. McDonald was in Tucson, AZ, when Wilhelm Reich conducted his experiments there. Also: contributing editor Ed Gehrman offers the latest data on "mad cow disease" and suggests a possible biowarfare aspect to the disease; Wilhelm Reich's court case is deconstructed by Dave Huisken; Len Bracken meditates on "The Torbitt Document" - JFK disinfo, or disinfo that rings more true than the Warren Report?; more from my interview with Tucson's Joe Blankenship, this time on his business deals with Tom Slick, Yeti hunter. (Recent news reports from Tibetans who participated in a CIA-funded war on the Red Chinese make this
